Life As We Know It
Oops! All History
I was going to post the next Dredge installment tonight, but the weight of history came down upon me and thus it took longer to do than expected.
You'll understand tomorrow when I post it and you read some of my latter-day comments. It's very difficult now to think about a time when the news was full of hollering and fussing about presidential conduct and scandal and the dignity of the office being ruined forever and etc etc etc ...
... and it was just about Bill Clinton. Big deal.
We had no idea. We could not have possibly seen what was coming, not in 1998. We wouldn't have been able to comprehend then how bad it could get. If someone had told us how bad it would get, we wouldn't have believed them.
I also had to spend some time looking up people, and time reflecting on the ones who are either definitively or probably no longer with us, and time being pleased about the ones who still are, even the ones I no longer have any contact with.
It was unexpectedly psychologically intense, let's put it that way.
I've actually finished the reformatting, but I remembered I have a couple of fixes I need to make to the posting code before I post another long Dredge -- because if I don't, I'll have to fix the entry in fifty places after the fact. And it's after eleven as I type this and I don't have the brain left for code fixes. So I'll post it tomorrow.
