There was an article in the paper this morning that triggered what would have probably been a couple of hundred words of screed ... but before I could write it I had to deal with my Monday morning status meeting, and it ran over time, as it often does, and I had to rush to get lunch earlier than usual, because the at the time I normally eat lunch (1 pm) I had another meeting, which is not usual. So I had lunch and sat through that meeting -- which was, I noted to my co-worker privately afterward, only about 86% a waste of my time -- and by the time that was done and I cleaned up a couple of small bits of work I couldn't ignore, it was three pm and I didn't want to write the screed anymore.

So instead I unpacked and filed some Studio resources I bought cheaply this morning, and one of them inspired me to fiddle around with it to use it in an entirely "off-label" way (as pharmacists say), which is something I do a lot. I futzed with that for a while, and when the resulting image was done, I realized it had a story that went with it, so when I posted it on DA I wrote that story. And I have also put it here, so that if you can't get to DA you can read it too. (Also, on DA I have to put the image at the top, but it's better at the end the way I've done here.)

Honestly, the story is a much better use of a few hundred words than the screed would have been.
