Not negligent only busy
So the issue here is -- I may have explained this on a previous day, but I don't think I did -- that this year I am doing big stories on a schedule. I have, like, a plan and everything. I put out a new story on the first of the month and then I begin working on the story for the first of the next month. On 1 April I will put out the Easter fluff (which has been finished for a while now), and then immediately begin work on Sleeper Squad 58.
But the big stories don't usually take a whole month to do. I used to plan for them to take two weeks, but some of them, especially Sleeper Squads, run longer (as they get longer). Three weeks is a better estimate. Hence, one major story a month.
And then I have some space left over, and we are never idle. After I finished the Easter story, I came up with an idea for an unusually topical Tales From The Reality Next Door story. I wasn't sure I'd have time to finish it before I had to start SS 58, and I hate interrupting work on a story (it's very hard to pick up where I left off), but I figured, oh well, I'd take careful notes and would manage somehow.
Then I interrupted that story because I was approaching 2000 watchers on DA and I already had plans, going years back, to do some special fluff when that happened. So I stopped and did that, which took a few days.
Then I went back to the TFRND story and realized that it was going to turn out fairly short, which presented me with an unexpected timing problem. Should I hustle like crazy to try to get it completely done before 1 April (and thus be able to put it out in mid-April after the Easter story had time for traffic to subside)? Or should I not hustle, probably have to interrupt it for SS 58 (I couldn't afford to go a few days over, because for all I know SS 58 will need three weeks), and thus probably not be able to put out the TFRND story, allowing for traffic gaps, until mid-May? (Because it wouldn't make mid-April and May 1 is the SS 58 date, see.)
You don't have to tell me I overthink these things. I'm well aware that no one else but me cares. But I do care.
Anyway, I chose to hustle. The story will be done tomorrow, and it will come out in mid-April. But the hustling has led me to neglect several other things these past few days. Including journal-keeping.
So now you know.
