Life As We Know It
A little soggy
Dinner out was good. New place run by the same people who run a place in Union Square, called Celeste, which may have been my favorite new dining experience of the past five years. The new place is, we think, not quite as good as Celeste, but then, the bar is very high.
The new place, which I am not failing to name for any kind of privacy or searching reasons, but because I have already forgotten what it's called, is in one of the buildings constructed, after many years of delays and shouting, in the "air rights" space off Massachusetts Avenue. That is to say, it's built over the Massachusetts Turnpike. Or, that is to say, it's built on an enormous deck. Or bridge. Or, that is to say, there's nothing underneath the fucker.
I'd link a lovely Boston Globe article about it, but those parsimonious pricks paywall in perpetuity, so even though the article is from 2024 you still can't read it. Let's pause for a hearty fuck-you to our local paper of record. Thank you.
I'm told that the Hynes T station is in the process of constructing an exit that will be on that side of Mass Ave, which seems like it will require building an enclosed walkway essentially hanging from the underside of the deck/bridge. That seems complicated. I bet there's an interesting article about it somewhere I haven't seen. Probably in the fucking Globe.
Oh, the title of this is because it was raining all day. The voyage was a little soggy. The restaurant was not.
