A little cooler
Haven't needed to air-condition the office for these two days. That's good.
This Sleeper Squad is going to be thirty-seven pages. (The previous record is thirty-one.) I think it should be shorter, but it's not so much of a moral panic as if it were forty.
I think the length puts people off; that's my main objection, that and the fact that the longer ones take too long to make. Remember, I firmly believe we are in an era where it's difficult to get people to find the time, attention span, and/or brain to read anything longer than a paragraph, and if someone is shown a forty-page PDF with a lot of words hidden among the pictures, they're just never going to get around to it.
(I am not immune to this condition, but with me it doesn't quite work the same way. Tom Scott spent years making really good YouTube videos that were usually anywhere from six to ten minutes long. Then he stopped, and was gone for a couple of years, and was missed. Now he's back, and for several months now he's been making videos again. And I haven't watched any of them. Because the new ones are all about a half hour long. It's just too difficult for me to bring myself to devote a half hour to just sitting and watching something -- far more difficult than it would be for me to carve out that half hour for reading something. Of course, the punchline here is that I can read a great deal more in a half hour than I can watch. If I were reading the script of a half-hour Tom Scott video, it would take me about two minutes. Though I concede it would also miss a lot of the fun.)
Anyway. I have one page left to render and lay out, and then a page and a half (counting that one) to write dialogue for. So I could very possibly finish it tonight.
(Don't get excited, though. It's scheduled to release on 1 July.)
Tomorrow, I think I may have to set aside a few hours to do some actual work for my day job. As a refreshing change of pace.
