Not particularly ready
I find that I'm back in the Sunday "I don't want this weekend to end" mode. Which is hilarious and inexplicable.
I don't work especially hard. Not for my day job, anyway. I have an enormous work ethic but I save it for things that matter, like getting stories finished and other things which are actually important to me. Once in a while, if I do have a project at work which is important and which has a deadline, I'll put in a solid two or three days getting it done. That doesn't happen very often. I get nagged about not taking my vacation time and so forth, but I can't tell my boss "I don't take vacation time because I fuck off so much of the rest of the time anyway." That would not fly.
Anyway, so, I usually put in at least two reasonable days of work a week, and those are usually Tuesday and Thursday. On Mondays I have meetings and they suck all my brain out. On Wednesdays and Fridays I leave the house for lunch and a long walk, and that scoops a big chunk out of the middle of the day. Even on the days when I do try to do a certain amount of Earning a Living, it tends to be "OK, gonna go do one or two things and that'll be plenty and then I can spend the rest of the afternoon working on [whatever story is currently in process]."
So there's no good reason for me to be dreading Monday, is my point. Monday will be be meetings and I'll do a few maintenance tasks and there won't really be anything pressing. In fact, unless some of the people I'm waiting on get off their asses and deliver me some things I need to proceed on a large project, all of next week there won't really be anything pressing. (And I know that's not going to happen. How do I know that's not going to happen? Because on Tuesday I have a meeting with their project manager where I make her aware how much I'm waiting on them to get their shit together.)
I think it's more of a conceptual border. You know, old habit. I spent too many years in jobs where I absolutely dreaded going to work every day. It's not like that now, and hasn't been for years, but it's a hard thing to lose.
In other news, it continues to be hot, and I have reluctantly conceded that one of my six PT exercises is not useless. The other five are a complete waste of time. Fortunately, they don't take long to do. I can do them while I'm waiting on renders!
