upheaval and sandwiches
The thing is, we have entered the period of time where actual home renovation activities are actually taking place (as opposed to merely threatening to take place and then not happening over and over again, which is what we had for a month).
I keep saying "tomorrow I will post a detailed account of the Home Renovation Saga" but then I'm too tired from the upheaval and such (not least, the getting up 1-2 hours earlier in the morning than I am intended to; contractors like to start the day early, which means I have to start the day even earlier, because I want to be finished with my morning process -- which takes about an hour and a half -- before they get here).
So the last few days, I have notably not posted the Home Renovation Saga. And some of those days, because I have not posted the saga, I haven't posted anything. I apologize for the omission.
That said, I'm not going to be posting it today either. There is just too much to type, and my focus is not here. My focus is mostly on finishing the Hallowe'en story, which turned out to be larger than expected and which has been running behind, partly because Life keeps interfering, and partly because I just haven't had the energy to run at it full tilt. Many days recently have been I Can Do Only One Thing Today days, and many of those days, I used up my One Thing on something else besides story work. (Which is a waste, if you ask me, but, y'know, gotta tend to life business whether you like it or not.)
I will, instead, tell you that I just finished playing a cute little game called Caravan SandWitch, and it was pretty fun. That was something I did on three nights when I really didn't have the focus to do anything else. I don't play a lot of games these days because there's a very narrow sweet spot for "things I can play while doing renders." This one didn't quite make it -- it became too distracting and I eventually just stopped doing renders while I finished it -- but "game required more of my attention than I thought it would" is hardly a criticism, y'know.
It's not a game for everybody -- some people will feel it lacks purpose -- so here's my review in case you want to contemplate whether you should buy it.
I say a few mildly snippy things in that review about the people who are constantly fussing about inclusive content in games. This is a huge thing on Steam now -- all the whiny basement manchildren love to pick on games for being "woke," which means "contains characters or situations that aren't about straight white men." I am losing what little patience I have for these clowns. One of the curators on Steam whose posts I used to very much like and value has gone absolutely nuts on this topic in recent years. I have no idea what happened to him. Maybe he needs a girlfriend. Usually the problem with most of these guys is they need a girlfriend.
